Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your questions about physical therapy and rehabilitation here at ActiveFit.

Feel free to Contact Us if you can’t find an answer to your question.

Q: How can physical therapy help me?

A: We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if physical therapy is right for you based on physical therapy practice guidelines. We do a short review of your physical and medical history and refer you to the appropriate medical professional.

Q: When should I come for physical therapy?

A: We recommend you seek help as soon as you experience symptoms. Injuries or problems will linger and turn into chronic problems, which take longer to recover from or even leave you with a permanent impairment.

Q: Is ActiveFIT Physical Therapy the right choice for me?

A: At ActiveFIT Physical Therapy, we believe that living an active and healthy lifestyle helps minimize health problems. We offer more than just physical therapy treatment. Our preventative program is specifically designed for you, to keep past problems from returning and minimize, delay, or prevent health problems from occurring. ActiveFIT Physical Therapy encourages you to “take active care of your health”.

Q: Do I need to see my doctor before I see a physical therapist or to receive physical therapy services?

A: Yes and No. Florida is a direct access state which allows you to receive physical therapy services without a prescription or visiting a physician first. However, if you want these services covered by your insurance then you must visit a physician to obtain an order/prescription. If needed, we will assist you in obtaining a prescription in case you did not receive one. ActiveFIT Physical Therapy is committed to communicating closely with your doctor and/or other specialists on the progress of your treatment for optimum health benefits.

Q: How long is the wait for an appointment?

A: There is no wait time for those who take advantage of direct access. For those with insurance, please contact us as soon as you receive your physician order/prescription so we can start the process in advance. Your appointment will be made immediately after approval is received from your insurance provider. Contact us for an appointment by calling, texting, or sending an email.

Q: Is there a long wait time in the office for service?

A: Treatment is normally scheduled for 45-minutes to an hour. However, your first visit may take longer than follow up visits. Please come in 10 to 15-minutes prior to your first appointment to take care of any paperwork needed.

If you are 15+ minutes late for your appointment time, you may need to wait to be seen. Please call or text us if you are running late or not able to make your appointment time.

Q: I am scheduled for surgery, can physical therapy help me with my recovery?

A: Having any type of surgical procedure can be scary. To help you understand the impact of surgery to your physical activity and daily life, we offer pre-operative treatment and tips to minimize a prolonged hospital stay and post-surgical complications. We do specialize in post-surgical treatment here at ActiveFIT.  Please call or email us for more information.

Q: What should I wear to my physical therapy visit?

A: Loose, comfortable clothing with easy access to problem area(s) is recommended. You may be practicing exercises using exercise equipment and modalities.
